10 things you always wanted to know about trading power - but were scared  to ask!

34 Year old Matthew Moody is an Oxford University graduate and a property  entrepreneur.  Matthew graduated from Oxford University in 1996 and went on to work for  Europcar and RCI Europe.
 
Matthew was the Head Of Revenue Management for RCI from 2000 to 2005 where  he managed the RCI team responsible for the management of inventory in  Europe, Middle East and Africa.
 
During his time at RCI, Matthew became the most senior manager in Europe, in  the area of inventory and yield management.  He was a key architect in the  RCI Rental programme which grew from £9 million to £22 million during his  tenure.  He also represented the European team at major events and key task  teams throughout his time.

He left RCI 3 years ago to pursue his ambition to become a property developer and marketer.  Matthew now owns and manages a portfolio of homes  in the 'buy to let' market but still acts as a consultant to several leading  travel organizations in the revenue management arena.
 
During his 40 minute address Matthew will explain how trading power really  works and what changes could be introduced to ensure effective and fair  exchange opportunities for timeshare owners.




How can we ensure that timeshare resales works for everyone?
Philip Watson is the Managing Director and driving force behind Europe’s leading resale company, Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket. Educated to degree level at Goldsmiths College in London he has been involved in Timeshare for over 30 years and is experienced in a range of successful sales and marketing techniques and started his current company over 12 years ago. As well as being Managing Director of Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket he is also a director and shareholder of the parent company Worldwide Leisure Group Limited who, amongst many other ventures, have the very successful Moness House Hotel & Country Club within its portfolio, giving Philip extensive developer experience to compliment his vast knowledge of the resale industry.

Despite Philip's many business commitments he still finds time to be an active member on the board of Resort Developer Organisation and The Timeshare Council as well as supporting TATOC the consumer organisation.

The secrets to effective resort management
Ramy Filo
has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, is a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors and is a Director of a number of HOA’s in Australia.

Joining the timeshare industry over 10 years ago, today Ramy holds the position of CEO of the Classic Group of companies, the largest privately owned Australian company involved in Sales, Marketing, Exchange, Development and Resort Management of Timeshare properties. Classic represents over 70,000 timeshare owners in Australia and New Zealand managing 15 resorts / Clubs, and is major share holder of Dial An Exchange.

Over the past four years Ramy has been the President of the Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council (ATHOC).  He is also the current chairman of the Global Alliance of Timeshare Excellence (GATE).




How can timeshare reinvent itself for a brighter future?

Simon Jackson, Managing Director of Macdonald Resorts Ltd will address one of the most important challenges the industry faces as it tries to attract a newer younger generation of owner.

Simon who is a bilingual Spanish speaker, has a career in the travel industry that has seen him work in senior management roles across Europe, and North America with some of the leisure sectors most distinguished brand names.

He spent 11 successful years working for Airtours Holidays before moving into the timeshare industry in 1999 where he has worked ever since.

His current role at the helm of Macdonald Resorts places him in the perfect position to share with us how we can change perceptions and apply ourselves collectively to the task at hand.

Simon has been instrumental in recent times at introducing new and innovative ideas and products at Macdonald Resorts that has seen the company re-establish itself as one of the most respected European timeshare brands around.

Sometimes out spoken with his “make things happen” approach, Simon will certainly not shy away from any of the topics that need to be addressed.

The nine things that need to be done to improve timeshare
David Lilley
has worked in sales & marketing at a senior level for close to 15 years.

During this time David has won respected awards for his sales, marketing and business development achievements at large companies such as American Express (7 years) and RCI (5 years) where he was regarded as an effective, incredibly honest and dynamic individual.

Since David commenced working in the exchange side of the business, he has developed a reputation as the outspoken champion of the owners best interests and an advocate for positive change within the industry. Specifically, the pursuit of improvements in the sales, marketing and customer service elements of timeshare are topics that David has written articles about and delivered speeches on at a variety of industry conferences (such as TATOC) and events this last five years.

David became Managing Director of Dial An Exchange Europe in January 2008. In the last twelve months David has personally addressed close to two thousand timeshare owners at several specially arranged Dial An Exchange roadshows and resort annual general meetings.

What is TATOC doing for owners?

Harry Taylor is Chief Executive of consumer association TATOC - Timeshare Associations & Timeshare Owners Committees.

 

The TATOC mission is to safeguard and enhance the timeshare holiday experience for existing and prospective users and to be the voice of owners.

 

After a long career as senior manager for the Co-opertative, Harry became a timeshare owner himself. As well as owing several weeks of timeshare, he is also Chairman of Sunset Bay Owners Committee in Tenerife, Lakeview Country Club in Cornwall and is a Non Executive Director of The Diamond Resorts European Collection Ltd.

 

From their city centre offices in Manchester, England Harry oversees a TATOC operation that has over 80 resorts signed up as members; giving access to over 250,000 timeshare-owning families.

 

TATOC promote the maintenance of high quality standards of facilities and amenities and to encourage the efficient management of timeshare resorts through communication and education. They also lobby and campaign on matters related to timeshare and timeshare owners through liaison with trade industry bodies and government departments.

 

As TATOC also directly assist consumers with their use of timeshare, both before and after purchase (through user guides, helpdesk assistance and by co-operating to remove rogue players from this marketplace) their presence, experience and industry insight is valuable addition to the seminar.




The real public opinion of timeshare

Paul Mattimoe has a timeshare sales and management background that reaches back 14 years with experience from sales representative to Project Director of multi-resort companies throughout Europe & Asia.

Some six years ago he started his first company, Timeshare Staff Ltd, which today remains the leading online recruitment resource for the timeshare industry, serving many of the major hospitality brands and leading developers around the world.

His second company, Perspective International Ltd has so far produced two award winning publications. The first, Perspective Magazine is the most read independent B2B publication for the shared ownership industry globally, which is read by more than 20,400 industry professionals and spans 82 countries. The second, Owners Perspective Magazine, was launched officially in print in January 2009 from which time Paul has dedicated most of his time to helping build a structure to aide in the perception change of the general public towards timeshare - as a result, Owners Perspective Magazine is now available in leading Tesco & Sainsbury's supermarkets, selected hotels and resorts and now airport lounges across Europe, Middle East and Asia, reaching and impacting upon a minimum of 40,000 consumers each month.

During his address, Paul will share with us some of his observations of the "real" public opinion to timeshare and some interesting statistics on his readers that will help to encourage more positive media interaction with the shared ownership industry in the months and years ahead.



The nature of the enquiries made to the TATOC helpline

Geoff Chapman has BA and BSc Honours degrees and held a senior position in a multi-national Corporation where he worked extensively in customer service, as a business/systems analyst, and project leader for implementing major change.  Geoff has been a timeshare owner for 30 years, owning a combination of fixed weeks, floating weeks and timeshare points. He has been a member/director of a timeshare points club for 12 years and a director on the TATOC board since 2007 with a particular focus on TATOC's consumer helpline and legislation affecting timeshare ownership. Prior to that he was co-opted to the board.


Geoff has a long and strongly-held belief in the value of quality timeshare, and a passionate commitment to enhancing the role of TATOC as the principle representative for timeshare consumers in Europe.   TATOC is proud to be 'run by timeshare owners for timeshare owners'.  It is the only consumer-elected representative body for timeshare consumers in Europe and the only recognised and respected vehicle that can deliver their needs.

European timeshare legislation - what is it and how does it work?

 

Alex Radford is an English Solicitor & Spanish Abogado with Irwin Mitchell Abogados who specialises in the fractional, timeshare and holiday ownership industry.

Alex grew up between England & Spain and is a fluent Spanish speaker. After completing his European Baccalaureat in Spain he studied Law with European Legal Systems at the University of East Anglia, Norwich and spent a year as an Erasmus student in Salamanca, Spain and completed his legal practice at Oxford. Upon graduation and after taking a year out to backpack around the world, Alex joined a leading law firm in the South West of England.  It is here where he qualified as a solicitor specialising in the Tourism & Leisure department and acted for timeshare and hotel developers, trustees, exchange companies and owners committees.

In 2003, Alex moved back to Spain and joined an Anglo-Spanish firm on the Costa del Sol and became a Partner in the Property & Commercial department and continued to act for clients involved in the timeshare, hotel and leisure industry.

Alex joined Irwin Mitchell Abogados in 2008 and is now a Senior Solicitor advising companies and private individuals involved in the  timeshare, fractional, hotel and leisure industry. He has spoken about timeshare, fractionals, holiday ownership products for the following organisations:
